Makahu Forest
Location : 1110 Mangaehu Road, Stratford, Taranaki, New Zealand
Covering 320 hectares, it includes 271 hectares of Pinus radiata and 23 hectares of native interplanting (Tōtara and Mānuka). Established in 2024, the forest reflects our continued commitment to sustainable plantation investment in New Zealand.
230 hectares are currently registered in the NZ ETS under Averaging, with 22 hectares to be added after the 2025 season, strengthening both the carbon and forestry value of the property.
Makahu Forest represents SUN&L New Zealand’s focus on carbon-aligned, sustainable forestry development and our confidence in New Zealand’s plantation sector.

Public Access
A portion of tracks within Makahu Forest has been opened to the public, allowing visitors to enjoy the natural scenery and experience the surrounding environment.
Public access is limited to designated areas to ensure safety and forest protection, while still offering opportunities for people to appreciate the beauty of New Zealand’s plantation landscape.
